I recently lifted in the 2019 USPA National Championships where I totaled 1767 in wraps at 198 via a 655 squat, 451 bench and 661 deadlift. I'm looking to compete in either November or December to wrap up the year.

Last week finished out fine. I was traveling for work and ended up completely skipping the bench session. With a minor strain, that seemed like a good way to go about it. Rather than try to squeeze a session in the rest made more sense.

Starting a new block this week, experimenting with being ready to do a meet in a few months. Chris is doing a meet in Detroit in November and then Ryan will be in Ohio in December. I would rather do the November meet with Chris. We are 10 weeks out this week, so my plan is to start a contest prep and then assuming benching goes well later this week, follow through and do the November meet. If it doesn't go well, scratch it and do another 3 weeks or so of offseason work before starting to prep for the December meet.

Overall, I feel ready to start preparing for competition, from a strength standpoint at least. My squat and deadlift both feel strong and the past 7 weeks have been very productive. My bench was going very strong prior to the strain. I had a chiro visit on Friday that I think resolved the problem, but again, this is the test for later this week. Any pain means I abandon the session and focus on competing a little later in the year.
