How to Teach a Team to Lead Itself
If the majority of leadership has to come from coaches, that's usually a sign of a rough season ahead. In my experience, I've found this to be 100% true.
Training Catch-up, sort of...
24 in 30 (26) is done! Resting and getting ready for the semester to start. On to the next challenge with my training.
Thursday/Friday/Saturday Training
Only 2 off days during my 24 in 30 run, so far. I'm superhuman, no doubt.
Saturday Training: Press
24 in 30 on the back side of the mountain. Halfway through and feeling pretty good.
Tuesday Training: Press
24 workouts in 30 days... feeling much better after a day off. Tried some new things and really liked the result.
Wednesday Training: Bench
Another pretty successful Bench Day with some truly inspirational weights lifted.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday Training: Pre-Leader Week 3
Training catch-up in preparation for NOV II this weekend.
Wednesday Training: Pre-Leader Week 2 - Clean/Bench
Bench PR (post-fall on the ice) and a conditioning "light bulb."
Monday Training: Pre-Leader Week 2 - Squat/Press
Great start to my 2nd week of the cycle. Threw in some different movements and feel great.
Saturday Training: Pre-Leader Week 1 - Deadlift
Weekend at Wendler's, training, weighted vest walk and some jamming in the beat laboratory.
Wednesday Training: Pre-Leader Week 1 - Clean/Bench
Thunder storms, wet turf and a solid day in the weight room have led to a happy Rhodes going into his last football group of the day. Yup, I referred to myself in the third person.
Monday Training - Pre-Leader Week 1: Squat
New plan. More conditioning. Not sure if I'm comfortable with my decision the breath heavily.
Coaching According to Rhodes - Art of Coaching: Part 1
These poor kids get a lot thrown at them on Day 1, but you have to be thorough and you will repeat yourself... A LOT!
Friday Training: Deadlift/Bench
Some exciting progress with my Bench training. Make sure you're sitting down when you read the numbers.
Tuesday Training: Squat/Press
Learning to set weight room goals as my physical abilities deteriorate.
Sunday Training: Squat/Incline
Great first day back after a little hiatus for conference tournament.
Summer Football: June
We'll be officially starting the Wednesday after Memorial Day. Unofficially, it sounds like we'll be starting Monday the 13th. I have about 12-15 kids who aren't going home and want to get started. So, we will. I don't think we'll do the summer workout for those first two weeks. I may just give them direction […]
Motivating Athletes
Thoughts on coaching lazy, unmotivated, useless athletes at the collegiate level.
