I really like writing about training, how to do it, ways to improve it, how to maximize it, technique improvement and anything else related to it.
Today, I am taking a break from it and just writing a few updates about some stuff going on here at TPS and with me.
PODCAST
First up, I am pretty excited.
The crew from the Barbell Shrugged podcast will be here today to interview me.
I have no idea what we will be talking about, but you can be sure I won’t have a filter.
They will get my real opinion and an honest answer on whatever they ask.
Barbell Shrugged is one of the better podcasts out there so I am pretty sure this will be good.
I’ll let you all know when they release it too so you can listen.
POWERLIFTING
We’ve got a pretty busy weekend coming up.
TeamTPS members from the TPS Method for Powerlifting crew will be competing at the RPS Winter’s Wrath meet.
We do this one just about every year.
Why?
Because it’s awesome. Jamie and Meghan Matta run it and they do a kick ass job.
They have outstanding judging, a great floor crew and Meghan plays the Dropkick’s for me.
The full team isn’t competing, just a few, but it will be a busy weekend.
On Saturday we have Rose, Cheryl and Danielle lifting. I hope I didn’t miss someone!
On Sunday we have Coach Cody and PJ lifting.
Cody is chasing a 600 deadlift in the Raw 198’s. I think he is going to hit it Sunday.
AND: PJ is doing his first Multi Ply meet. Is Multi Ply making a comeback?
Gosh I hope so.
I am not looking forward to wrapping knees and setting gear up, but I love this sport, so I will give it 100%.
I wish all of our crew the best of luck, but they won’t need it.
They are well prepared.
And, a pre-thanks to my Team of Coaches going up with me.
Russ, Candace and Matt will be there working their asses off. I couldn’t do this without them.
WEBSITE
This is the biggest news I have to blast out today.
I am really jacked up over this.
I had the idea to create a website years ago that brought TPS to everyone. When I came up with it, we just didn’t have the time or the budget to do it, but we kept compiling data and content for it.
We started work on the site almost two years ago, and had two web developer/designers that did absolutely zero on it. But they took the money.
I decided to fire the last company about 5 months ago and made a few calls to my network.
My good friend Zach Evan-Esch referred me to Deb Carraro, who he uses.
We embarked on one small project to get started, and so I could be sure this is the person I wanted to start a long term relationship with.
Sort of like moving in with your girlfriend before you get married.
Well, I can’t thank Zach enough for sending me her way, and I can’t thank Deb enough for her dedication to the project.
We launched the TPSMethod.com on Black Friday in BETA mode.
It took off.
We had a SHITLOAD of people register.
Before I tell you what it is, I want to explain BETA mode.
I wanted to wait until the site was 100% and perfect and full of content.
Deb said no.
I always defer to a competent professional when I am lacking knowledge in an area, and I am certainly not a web developer.
She is.
Deb suggested that we launch in BETA and offer a HUGE discount to Founding Members.
BETA mode is simply a test mode.
The site is live, fully functional for the level we are at and has a good deal of content.
It is by no means complete and will need several revisions. And a lot more content.
But, Deb said that we need users to test the site and for feedback on how to further develop it.
So, I put my email writing skills to work and crafted a few emails explaining this and boom, members.
Those who joined know it is BETA and has bugs, less content than the full site will, and that we need their help to get it right.
They also know they get 50% off membership for life if they joined at the Founding Member level.
So far 99% of the feedback is outstanding.
One person asked for refund and listed all of the stuff I said would be wrong with the site in the marketing emails. Hmm…
No problem. I’ll issue it.
We did have one huge tech issue (which the refund-ee referenced) and I want you to take a lesson from my mistake.
We are having drastic issues with site access and login.
Deb spent hours on the phone with my hosting company and they told her we are on the wrong hosting program.
Now, I am pretty pissed about this because I spent over an hour on the phone a year ago with the company and THEY told me this is the right hosting plan.
When Deb was on the phone with tech, they told her we were on the WRONG hosting plan and it was causing the issues.
Slow site, login cache problems, and more.
We switched to the highest and most expensive level of hosting they offer and the site is being migrated now to the new servers.
We have been assured that the site speed will be at least DOUBLE what it is now, and there will be zero issues with login, crashes and other problems the lower level of hosting offered.
Hopefully they are correct.
The moral here?
NEVER TRUST SALES WEASELS.
This is a rule of mine. I did my homework before I bought the hosting and they suggested a different plan.
My guess is they made more commission off the one they sold me.
I may be right and I may be wrong, but had I bought the one I originally wanted we would not be here issuing refunds.
So, we hope to be out of BETA in 60-90 days and move to full access memberships soon.
So what it the TPSMethod.com?
Glad you asked.
I’ll give you the quick rundown.
It offers programing (online coaching) for:
Beginner Raw Powerlifting
Intermediate/Advanced Raw Powerlifting
Beginner Equipped Powerlifting
Intermediate/Advanced Equipped Powerlifting
AND
TFL: Training for Life-this is everyone else. TFL is for those who want to be lean, jacked, strong as balls, fit as hell, mobile, resilient, and able to tackle any challenge.
Video Library:
We’ve got over 400 professionally produced videos on exercise technique up right now with much more coming. Many of the video are Quick Hits. These are 10-20 seconds long and we link them in your programs so you can see what you are supposed to do. We also have longer videos on technique that explain each exercise in detail. They are 8-20 minutes long. And we are always adding more.
Courses:
Want to learn to Squat, Bench or Deadlift?
We’ve got online courses split up into 5-10 minute easily digested chunks so you can watch a little and come back to it. And we have dozens more to be filmed and uploaded. Pretty soon there will be a long form video for just about any exercise you want to learn to do.
Seminars:
We have two seminars up now and more coming.
We had film on about 5 seminars that we wanted to use, but the audio was awful and we cannot use it.
No problem, we will just do more seminars and film them. This is a huge value.
Attending a seminar can cost $100 or more plus travel, food and whiskey.
You could be out of pocket $500, $600 or more to go to one.
Join and we have them here for you.
Member Forum:
This is my favorite feature of the site.
The Private Member Forums allow us to create a PRIVATE community of like minded people in a troll free environment.
A huge feature of this is that you can film your work sets, upload the video and one of my expert coaches will review it and give you correct feedback on the lifts.
A big issue I see with online coaching is two fold:
1. Unqualified/inexperienced coaches
2. No feedback, just an excel sheet given
We solve this problem by only allowing highly trained and experienced coaches on the site, and by giving you the ability to upload video for us to review and get back to you.
All for under a buck a day.
The site will offer much more when we are out of BETA including a custom coded engine that tracks all of your metrics and will direct you to the correct program for your goals.
So, as I said, I am pretty jacked up about this.
I hope you will be too.
I’ll create a special offer for my loyal EliteFTS readers soon too.
That’s all I have this week.
I gotta run and prepare for this Barbell Shrugged interview.
