We’ve talked about various types of jumps already, these would be considered a true plyometric movement. These typically go in toward the end of a peaking cycle as they are considered intensive, not extensive. Make sure the athlete gets off the ground as quick as possible. They should just spring or rebound off the floor more than they should jump. Also, make sure when the athlete contacts the ground/ takes off and lands on the box that the knees do not go inward. If you watch from the front view you can see this happen. Most of the time this can be corrected with some cuing. Start with 3x5 and build your way up to as much as 6x5 depending o the athlete and other loads they have placed on them. These are much more taxing than normal jumps off the floor, so monitor the progressions closely!
