One of the things I learned from lifting weights that carries over into life is that just showing up will get you 90% of the way because over time people quit showing up because it becomes too hard or it is not convenient or doesn't bring balance to their life or life got in the way. There are a lot of reasons to quit showing up or excuses, however, you want to look at it, but there is something special about just showing up. There are days you don't even want to get out of bed but you still show up, you are not feeling great but you still show up, it is this challenge of showing up when life is hard or not cooperating that brings me inner peace and purpose, because I know throughout my time here on this planet life will give me plenty of reasons to stop and give up but if I can just show up day in and day out in the gym and most importantly in life than I know I have a chance.
What do you do when someone is having a rough day, try just showing up and being there. You don't have to talk, you just need to be present for that person. It is one of the hardest things to do because no one knows what to do so you find ways to get out of it because it will become uncomfortable but you will learn to thrive in being uncomfortable just by showing up. Daily I am reminded about how hard it is to show up because life is short and some days you don't have a choice because when it is your time, it is your time, but every day I get that opportunity to show up I will and I will make the most of it, not for myself but for my brothers who are no longer here, for my wife who counts on me, for myself because I was taught to never quit what I started. I started my life not quitting and showing up and I will end my life the same way.
