Recently I took my wife away for her birthday. We had a great time. Part of that great time was eating what I felt like and drinking alcohol. Two things I don't do often.
Last weekend I went to Wendler's for our annual get together. While there, Rhodes and Jim forced me to eat Popeye's fried chicken and Five Guys burgers and fries.
Sadly, our dog Buddha passed away in April after ten amazing years together. Between covid lockdowns, some family stuff, and Buddha health issues, we had not been doing much traveling.
This means for the past bunch of years eating while away from home has not been an issue. However, after going away for just a couple of weekends I saw how I could easily go off the rails.
One doesn't get to 328.5 lbs without having eating issues. I love to eat. Losing and keeping off 120 lbs has been very difficult. Every part of me wants to be big again. Well, except for the part of me that wants to live a long and healthy life.
I will be traveling again shortly and I'm going to try something new. I am going to be more liberal with my eating and drinking as I usually do while away. However, I am going to continue to track my calories.
By tracking my calories I will be less likely to completely throw caution to the wind. I know vacation is supposed to be fun, but you need to stay within reason. When I see an attractive woman (can I still say that?) I don't go jump on her. Kind of like I can't go jumping on to buffets anymore either.
Seriously though, even when Jess and I have gone out around here there's a big difference between when I track my calories and when I don't. I'm just more cautious.
Now that traveling will be more of a thing for us, I have to be mindful. Calories still count on vacation. I'll report back in a few weeks after traveling and let you know how it goes.
