Of course, this sounds counterintuitive, because it is. It's downright stupid. And, if it's downright stupid, why is it the tact I took for my hardest training week in the last year?

I just finished my hardest conditioning session of the week. It's a 5-mile ruck with a pretty steep and long hill. This is officially the last training I do for the week and I am spent.

Before sitting down and typing I did a quick 10-minute roll and stretch. It did wonders. As my wife would say "You're not a great connector of events."

Yes, this has been my hardest week of training in a year. I'm in a strength peaking block which I'll be blogging about shortly. However, I have done less recovery work than I have been doing in months.

Reflecting on the week it's probably the extra effort in the gym that caused me to be lazy. That's no excuse. That's also why if you take this stuff seriously you need to hold yourself accountable.

Blogging/Journaling about my training helps hold me accountable. That and the weekly check-in I do My Recovery Check-In With this in mind I will make sure to get back to prioritizing my recovery work.
