Pull Down Abs
This is for all of those who asked me how to train abs standing up. This is one example. I have @margmasty do this as part of her warm up and as a heavier accessory later in the session.
As a warm up, it activates the abs, actively stretches the lower-back, hip flexors, and hamstrings. It also reinforces the act of grabbing and sticking to the floor with the feet and provides some distraction of the spine. As a warm up, it’s more about the movement and feeling the muscle stretch and stabilize. Repetition ranges will vary on the tempo but somewhere in the range of 10-20.
This can be done with different stances; close, medium, wide, and staggered.
When done later in the session, the strongest stance should be used that will allow the greatest amount of weight to be moved for sets of 6-8.
