In just a few days I get to hang with my boys Rhodes and Wendler (Rhodes isn't in the picture because he was probably having a Marphan's attack when it was taken, hence why Jim and I are both laughing so hard). It's been a year and that's just too long. Fun will be had, Popeye's will be eaten, balls will be busted, and we will probably even lift.
I will definitely lift. I know Rhodes has been out to visit and he and Jim have bagged on lifting before, but I need it. Since not seriously competing anymore, these get-togethers really fuel my fire.
Our goals are always dependent upon how our old broken asses are doing. One thing we have agreed upon is a group conditioning challenge. I believe we are going to be pushing the prowler with a couple hundred pounds for a mile with a time goal in mind. I can't remember it all, but I will of course report back.
For my lifting, the standards I'd like to hit are 2.5x bodyweight for the squat and the deadlift. 2x bodyweight for the bench. I'm not certain on what versions of these lifts I'll be doing. Like what bars to use, whether I will be squatting to a box, if I'll have my legs up while benching, etc. Those will be game-time decisions.
A fun side note, the three of us will be doing a Table Talk podcast/vidcast at Elitefts with Dave Tate. That should be entertaining
This is shaping up to be a great stay at Meathead Sleepaway Camp.
