6/4- Legs and John winning his IFBB pro card
This weekend as a whole was a lot of fun training wise. It was more testing oriented. In order to have a more accurate depiction of where Dave's strength was for the next phase in training we did things on the heavier side. After warming up we worked up to a heavy set of 6 reps on SSB box squats. Although Im still not totally comfortable with the box squat I was able to hit 423 for my top set. Matt Smith joined us for the session and it was great to have another set of eyes for our sets. He brings great vibes to the session every time. Our accessories were on the lighter side this weekend since it was more of a testing week. We were eagerly waiting all day to see if John's win was official and were all elated to see his arm raised on stage.
6/5 Chest
Again we went heavier to assess where dave was at. We began the session with reverse band bench using heavy bands. I chose to not go excessively heavy and to just hit heavy work sets in the 6-8 range. We then worked up to a heavy set of D-handle chain flys peaking at 6 chains per handle. Personally these are my favorite movement for chest.
With John coming back to train this weekend our training will take one of two turns, either 5 notches up or stay the same. The route we take will depend on his next competition goal. Another great weekend of training in the books.
