Clint Darden here from ClintDarden.com and, of course, The House of Biceps, and I’m here answering a question from the elitefts.com Q&A.

The question is, “Clint, how long does it take to break in an elitefts™ P2 belt? Mine is taking a real long time to break in. Any tips on making this thing softer?”

You know, when I read this, I was pretty shocked. I really wanted to ask what his numbers were and how long he’d been training. I have a P2 belt from elitefts.com. It’s not the weird, cheap-o, soft, velcro-strap, smooth on the waist, comes in six different colors, feels sexy and I wear it to the bedroom type of belt. Look, all I can say is that if you put this belt on and it hurts, chances are powerlifting is not the sport for you. If this belt from elitefts.com is too painful for you, you probably don’t need to be squatting or deadlifting anyway.

All joking aside, the P2 belt from elitefts.com is probably the best powerlifting belt I’ve worn or seen. This is no small thing to say. I got it, trained with it the first day, and got no bruises whatsoever. Probably after wearing it a couple times it felt a little better. I travel with it all over the world. I beat the crap out of all my equipment. Everything I have is going to get scratches, marks, rips, and tears. Nothing in my gym, is going to stay perfect for very long because everything I have in my possession is going to be used and it’s going to be used hard. I am going to wear this thing out. It’s not going to last 30 years, but it is going to last a real good, hard, rough 10-20.

So how do you break this thing in?

Put it on, squat, and deadlift. If wearing this hurts more than squatting and deadlifting, you're not really squatting or deadlifting.
