Welcome to February at elitefts—always your destination to learn from some of the smartest and strongest columnists, coaches, and athletes around the world!

Last month, I shared the highly trafficked content from last year. So, I wanted to use this month (and paragraph) as an opportunity to share a few ways we’re tweaking content for 2020. This month, you’ll be seeing a decent amount of change across the board, beginning with our teammates. Many will be reallocated to serve you better. For example, this may take an athlete out of his or her training log and into an article or social media platform — a better place to curate and create information so that you receive a message in the best way possible. Another adjustment we’re looking forward to is installing content pillars so that specific months focus on centralized themes.

Thanks to the following outside submission authors who will be featured this month: Seth Albersworth, Travis Rogers, Pete Arroyo, Sam Miller, Jim Serratt, and Max Barnhart. If you would like to contribute an article for elitefts to review and potentially publish, click here to learn more.

Here’s a weekly preview of some of the content we have scheduled for you this February, along with what articles, blogs, and logs were the most popular for January.

Enjoy!

Week 1

Jason Brown gives you five exercises for glute development. These are cornerstone pieces that are part of his own programming and the programming of his clients. Click here to see what he suggests, watch a video representation of each, and learn how to program it in.

We travel to Highland High School and sit down with strength and conditioning coach Ryan Hart, as well as physical education teacher/head football coach Mike Gibbons in Medina, Ohio. Watch how these two teach their student-athletes about accountability and growth in the weight room.

Week 2

Once you click on Mark Dugdale’s article this week, the first sentence you’ll read is, “I’m plant-based now.” Read to see exactly what his daily diet looks like and if there’s anything you can adopt as part of your own eating habits.

Remaining on the topic of eating habits, Tony Montgomery shares five ways in which to add size or to go up a weight class during your off-season.

Week 3

JM Blakley writes a program for you in fewer than 30 words. If you believe that, then you’ll believe that Dave Tate is dieting down to 220. Instead, JM uses his 30-word program to create a 3,282-word article to shift the emphasis from programming to athlete development (developing heart and soul).

The gut is one of the many areas of the body that has a multi-faceted impact on performance and recovery. Sam Miller gives you some of the top areas of impact.

Week 4

Our strength and conditioning editorial intern Mason Nowak interviews multiple athletes to create a guide for strongman competitors to learn how to program conjugate.

We revamp “A Practical Guide for Implementing Block Periodization for Powerlifting” written by Gabriel Naspinski, originally published in August of 2010.

elitefts JM Tank Top

Brute strength and no brains behind the brawn isn’t likely to produce the best lifting. To reach your potential, you must harness your mind as much as you harness your body. elitefts celebrates the powerful messages that contributor JM Blakley has imparted to listeners during his Table Talk Podcast discussions with Dave. He also uses writing to break down the many paths he has taken to gain a deeper understanding of building strength with our “JM” apparel. Subtly and boldly, don black on black, and prepare to engage both your mind AND your muscles to pursue your greatest performances yet.

Värikäs Bar

Värikäs—our cool way of saying “colorful”! The popularity of adding some color to the weight room has also extended to the barbell.  This unique polymer-ceramic composite coating offers a corrosion-resistant finish that comes with color options. The barbell is still just a bar, but when it comes to marketing, aesthetics cannot be overlooked.
