Q&A QUESTION
I'm a 17-year old male and I weigh 200 pounds. I have the body structure to hold a lot of muscle, but I don't have a good way to motivate myself. I really want to get big, learn some good forms, and maybe get some help. I have a gym in my house, but I need some help. Anybody willing to give me tips?
DAVE ANSWERS
Here’s my tip…I don’t think you are cut out for this.
No good way to motivate yourself?
What you really meant to say is, “I want the benefits of hard training, but I really don’t feel like putting in the effort.”
Do me a favor and read this log post Dave Tate put up a few months ago before his hip replacement. Consider for a moment what that motherfucker put himself through just to satisfy his love of training.
At 17, if you were truly meant to do this, then you would already be doing it. You would be combing through any training resource you could get your hands on, learning anything and everything you could about training. You would be training so hard and so often that your loved ones would be concerned for your well-being. NOTHING would be able to get between you and the gym, certainly not a lack of motivation.
Sorry if I’m coming down a little hard on you, but someone has to be honest with you. Based on your question, I just don’t think you have what it takes to do this.
Training hard is a privilege, not an obligation. Find something you ARE passionate about and apply your energy there.
