Getting into the world of powerlifting may seem intimidating at first. Take a commercial gym enthusiast and send him to a serious barbell club and you'll witness someone that feels (and looks) very out of place. But before reaching the point of training for a serious goal (whether it be powerlifting, bodybuilding, or strongman), every successful strength athlete started without having a clue what they were doing. This is all part of the process. You have to show up. You have to keep working. You have to figure shit out, even if it makes you look stupid sometimes.
In this edition of Table Talk, Dave discusses beginning lifters. He touches on the ideas of learning to train properly by making your own mistakes, adding gear, and how experienced lifters should interact with novices.
