Last year elitefts™ introduced The Powerlifting Experience™.
The format of this event was to introduce new lifters to the sport of Powerlifting and to help intermediate and advanced lifters dial their lifts in for their next meet season. Since this first event we have received dozens of emails from participants that entered their first meet and others who crushed their old PR's.
Some have even become new Team elitefts™ athletes. Below is a screen show of an email I received noting that Jean Pineda who attended the first powerlifting experience competed at her first powerlifting meet this weekend. She lifted in the APF/AAPF Illinois State meet in Sycamore, Il.
Congrats to Jean!
To Matt Ladewski: Can't tell you how happy I was to see a familiar face! Thanks again for checking on me (and for sharing my story, too)!
To Mr. Tate: I'm humbled and thrilled to be mentioned in one of your posts! Prior to the Powerlifting Experience, I had been on the fence about competing. There were too many unknowns in my mind: How do I even pick my first meet? Am I "good enough" to try this? Will it be any fun or just stressful? - and so on. When the opportunity came up to train at the infamous compound and learn from the best of the best, it was too good to pass up - plus, I knew that I'd leave knowing if I wanted to try a meet or not. Well, the lessons I learned that day were priceless! I walked away knowing what work needed to be done and most importantly, I finally embraced the idea that I could handle a meet!
The APF/AAPF IL State Meet was a blast! I went 7 for 9, made new friends, and never once felt like an "outsider" in the obvious community that existed there. It reaffirmed for me that "Iron opens doors"...if you let it. Thanks again to you and your crew for all that you do to help beginners like myself!
