This morning Ryan Munsey of House of Strength republished an article documenting a training session he shared with Dave Tate and John Meadows back in June 2012.
But the longer I lifted, the more I realized I wasn’t doing this for them. If they never accepted me, or never even learned my name, I was still going to do what I do.
I stopped trying to impress people who didn’t even know I existed. I stopped worrying about them. I started working on ME. And most importantly, I started HELPING others. I started helping YOU.
Whether those guys ever know it or not has no bearing on my success or failure. That is a major life lesson I have stumbled upon through the iron. Success has nothing to do with external factors. Not money, not fame, not fortune, no material good can match the fulfillment and satisfaction of true success.
You can find the whole article on House of Strength and learn more about Munsey, Tate, and Meadows. It shares both the figurative lessons Munsey learned as well as the impact his experience had on his own work in the strength industry.
