PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Troy Thompson has been promoted to Pace University's Head Strength and Conditioning Coach as of May 15, 2016. Thompson has been a valuable asset over the past year to Pace Athletics and the football program.

"I truly love the field of strength and conditioning and the effect that a coach can have on many athletics teams across an entire department," said Thompson. "I am looking forward to getting to work with all the athletes at Pace University and getting to create a culture of physical preparation training that is of value and purpose."

Prior to Pace, Thompson worked at Old Dominion University as an assistant sports performance coach, and at Wofford College as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, working with a variety of varsity sport programs. He was a key contributor into the development of the brand new Ianniello Field House Strength and Conditioning Room, and has been working closely with many student-athletes and coaches to develop summer strength and conditioning programs.

"The Ianniello Field House weight room is one of the top Division II facilities in the country," said Thompson. "It has already helped to create an enhanced culture of training here at Pace University."

Thompson was a member of the Capital University football team from 2009-12 where he was a three-year varsity letter winner and two-year starter on the Crusaders' offensive line. While playing at Capital, he was named a National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Member. During his time at Capital, he also served as an intern strength and conditioning coach for the basketball team, as well as for Denison University's athletic department.

Thompson graduated from Capital University in 2012 with a bachelor of arts in exercise science and a minor in coaching. He also is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Sports and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is currently pursuing his master's in public administration at Pace.
