SATURDAY - This is usually my deadlift day, but I went to check out a new truck. Long story short, I was just going to check out an F150. I got there at 9:00 and next thing I know it's 1:00 and I'm buying a new truck.

This was cool and messed up at the same time. First, the Avalanche I traded in was my brother's. I took it over when he passed. So letting it go makes me very melancholy. Second, I needed to get back for my training partner Josh's wedding. Last, I didn't get to deadlift.

We did get to the wedding right before the bride and groom walked out. I got to sit at a table with a bunch of training partners which I knew would be a good time. Before too long we started in on the adult beverages. I don't often embibe, so I'm a cheap date. We had a blast. I am a bit of a recluse, so it's good for me to get out. However, I don't know how other people feel about me being out in public.

SUNDAY - Here was another interesting day. I got a few calls late that night. My Dad was having trouble swallowing. He had an esophagectomy surgery for cancer a few years back. It's a brutal surgery. Anyway, as it turns out, his esophagus is about the size of a pencil eraser right now. A family friend who is a dr took him to the hospital in the middle of the night.

I was on the phone with my Mom a bunch of times that night/morning, just trying to comfort her. Luckily everything is ok right now. He got released the next morning. So needless to say, not much sleep happened. Plus, with Sunday being Mother's day I knew I would not catch up on any.

I ended up just deadlifting early to get it out of the way and clear my head a bit. I always find solace in training. Plus, I do it from home so I am not going to miss calls or anything else I'd need to be around for. With training on Sunday, I knew I'd go back to back to back with my usual Monday and Tuesday, so I didn't do any assistance. I felt like a bag of smashed a$$holes anyway. I'm not good with no sleep. Whatever, I got something done. Heck, it's only 205 on the trap bar for 10x10. It should be easy enough, that was the hope at least. Yeah, I have a long road back.

The body is still holding up as is the mind, kind of. Just got to keep pushing forward.
