Good news today, but 1st I want to wish all my American Friends Happy Thanksgiving, I have a lot to be thankful for today and I have a lot of American friends celebrating today, hope you are all enjoying your friends and family!
Today was my 1st Physiotherapy session, 3 weeks today post operation and not surprising I passed with flying colours.
The first thing he asked me was why I was still wearing my sling, I told him the Dr. made me. I would be glad to get rid of my sling and I don't wear it all the time but it certainly is a gentle reminder to not do any stupid moves with my arm. There seems to be contradiction over the wearing of the sling, I have read 6 weeks in a sling, last week my Dr. told me to keep wearing it and the Physiotherapist said usually people wear it for two weeks...... hmmmmm seems questionable at best.
The Physiotherapist also told me the Dr. noted on the requisition to "Slow me down" because I was a Powerlifter, I guess the Dr. didn't trust me not to push it.
So a few simple range of motion tests and it wasn't long and I was outta dodge. He said my range was 100 % where most people at this stage are at 45 %, this is great news. He kept looking at me wondering what can I give you to work on, he was baffled to say the least at my progress.
I got 4 or 5 exercises to do at home, 3 times a day and I should be good on my own for a week. Usually they want you there twice a week but because I'm way ahead of the game I only have to go once a week for a bit which is great.
I am not going to make jokes about Physico because I know it's necessary but geezzzzz let me get moving already, I will do what I am supposed to and will always be ahead of the pack. I am not ready to quit doing what I love so if it takes a bit, so be it.
I am healing up nicely, I can hardly see the scars anymore but I still have significant bruising. I get a dull ache once in a while if I have been using my arm but I am still off the pain meds and a simple tylenol once in a while cuts the ache to bearable.
Saturday I am going to begin training my legs and abs again, that will be a nice change for me, I have rested long enough.
Stay tuned and don't forget about the December Kettlebell Challenge coming your way ! 25 Days of Christmas Bell Hell !
