If you follow my blogs you will know lately I have been experiencing back pain. I have good days and bad days. This week Mon and Tuesday were really bad. By Tuesday night I was in tears, rolling around on my bed. I felt hopeless, angry and defeated.

I have been doing my back re-hab as prescribed by Professor Stu McGill. The McGill big 3,  ring pull-ups and bench pushups. That is my re-hab with the exception of walking. Some days I am just in too much pain to do it. Diagnosed with two bulging discs and nerve impingements is never good.

Wed morning heading out the door to work a light bulb hit me. I noticed in my closet the flat boots I wore last winter. I thought let's try those today at work and see if it makes a difference in my back pain.

Now let's be clear, I don't wear high heels. The boots pictured here are as big as my heels get.  To be honest this is the first winter I have actually worn a boot with a heel daily since my back surgery.  Hmmmm, coincident maybe but I don't think so.

For the past two days my pain is almost nil, gone, not there. Could the heels have been putting my back in a compromised position? Absolutely they do and are hard on knees. I'm sure that if you are a woman and are wearing heels and have back pain switching to flats may help you.

I'm no Doctor and my back is not normal like most people. This blog is just about my experience this week and no joke, my pain is diminished. Could it be a combination of the boots, the re-hab, the not lifting ? Absolutely it can but I know a lot of women in back pain who don't lift.

So ladies, get rid of those heels for the sake of your back and your knees.  Looks aren't everything and pain sucks.

I also wish for everyone experiencing back pain to read "The Back Mechanic". It will help you I guarantee it.
