Benching today went very well. I did right about what I figured I should do based on my training this time around and hit an all time PR for benching with fat gripz or an axle. Last time I was up in this range when using a larger diameter bar for my primary bench movement was when I hit 405 at Iron Sport at Super Swole Sunday I. This helps reinforce that I know roughly where my strength levels should be based on recent training and that the deadlift shenanigans of Tuesday were an aberration and not an accurate representation of my current tugging strength. I also need to thank Mike Hedlesky for spotting and handing off to me. I usually bench completely without assistance except for when I go up for heavy singles and then there are only a couple people around here that I trust to spot me so I will gladly go to wherever they are training or working to have them spot me since I know they won't do anything ignorant like touch my bar before I tell them to when and if that situation arises.
Fat Gripz Bench
10x45
10x95
5x135
3x185
3x225
1x275
1x300
1x335
1x360 - Five lb increase from last time around and beats my previous all time PR with a fat bar or gripz of 355.
1x365 - Back to back all time fatty PRs and 10 lb increase from my last training block (and at about 20 lbs lower body weight).
DB Rows
10ea x 100
3x10ea x 125 - I haven't done DB rows in a blue moon since I had lent my axle DB handle to Nick to train for the comp we did back in April and these combined with benching made me insanely sore all around my abs and obliques. If I hadn't already been planning to add them back into my training, I would have written myself a note to do so.
