I made the trek up to the Compound this weekend with Schwab for the UGSS to help us prepare for our upcoming meets. As always it was an amazing time getting to see and train with the likes of the Ladewski's, Goggins, Kirshen, Casey, Molly, Marshall, Schillero and Many others. It never fails to motivate me when I attend these.

My training went well while there and I accomplished what I wanted to do and more. I was a little upset with myself after my last squat for cutting it. With everyone that was there I should have had someone give me an up call. I contemplated doing one more set at a higher weight and a reverse band, but after talking to Bob Youngs we came to the decision that this being the heaviest weight I've handled in two years and with the issues I've had over the last 3-4 weeks of training that I should take it for what it was and move on to deadlifting. Bob is always a voice of reason.

Here's a breakdown of what I did...

Saturday

Squat
Bar x 10
150 x 10
240 x 5
330 x 1
420 x 1
510 x 2 Ace briefs
600 x 1
690 x 2 suit - straps down
780 x 1
870 x 1 straps up
940 x 1 straps up

Deadlift
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 2
495 x 1 King sumo deadlifter - straps up
585 x 1
655 x 1 most I've pulled in 2 years and it moved pretty fast

Sunday

Bench
bar x 20 x 2
140 x 10
190 x 10
230 x 5
280 x 2
320 x 1
370 x 1
390 x 1
410 x 1
430 x 1 most I've done since shoulder surgery last December and 20 pounds off my PR. I'm not contemplating adding an old, loose shirt at this point.

I can't thank Kirshen, Schwab, Casey, Julia and Bob Youngs enough for helping me get my mind right for benching. I was very anxious about benching heavy today and was really hesitant on the 370, but after speaking to this group of people they calmed my nerves and were very supportive. That's one of the things I love about being part of this team. All for one and one for all.
