Some people call me competitive, well, maybe, but when faced with a challenge (and free stuff) I give it my all !
Yesterday I went to the Toronto Pro Show to watch a good friend Shannon Compete in the OPA Provincial Finals! Shannon came first in her division, an amazing accomplishment and a proud friend moment, she brought tears to my eyes, such dedication and commitment !
Walking through the Pro Show a pushup challenge was given. How many pushups can you do in a minute ? I have never tried a minute and I don't really like doing them. I have done sets of pushups in training because my coach put them in my program but have never really felt strong doing pushups, I think 15 is probably the most I have ever done at once. The rules were full pushups and I'm all about the rules and doing things right, so here goes one minute, I gave it my all and I grinned out the last couple! (by the way I have never grinded a pushup before)
37 PUSHUP PR ! Thanks to Jack and Aneta for cheering me on and taking the video, the last 4 pushups were grinders for sure and can I feel it in my chest, lats, triceps and pecks today ! I definitely think I will be doing more in my training next round and I'm sure this will improve my bench !
An hour or so later we were invited back to try the "Plank Challenge" (plank until you drop) Well, I like planks so this was my kind of Challenge !
5 mins in I started to shake, I thought ok I got this, pretty soon every muscle in my body was shaking, this was not only a P.R. for me but a really good body pump! I lasted over 6 mins, impressed myself and wow can I feel my abs today, the DOMS is wonderful !
A great day with some fun challenges and friends, nothing like being inspired by those around you.
This will be my last bit of training until next Saturday when I take the platform at the RPS "Great White North Invasion" meet in search of my 1,000 lb total.
The rest of this week will be foam rolling and keeping my mobility.
