Block 9, Wave 1 - Events @ Iron Strong CF
Mike Hedlesky put it best this morning: it was a Delmarvalous day on Christmas Eve on the Delmarva Peninsula - crappy weather all day with steady rain falling straight down. It was joyful and triumphant inside the gym though, with strongman, crossfit, powerlifting, and weightlifting being trained all through the house. I felt like a thousand percent dookie, most likely from the volume/intensity on snatches yesterday. Almost everything was sore except for my cows, boobies, and biceptuals. So despite an extended warmup, pressing was absolutely awful for most of the duration. My last couple sets finally started to feel pretty not bad, but I kept it light and easy since I have nothing specific I'm training for at the moment.
Press Medley (log C&P x 2, CDB C&P x 2)
individual warmups:
log complex x 90
log complex x 140
3ea x 75 - CDB
4x180 - log
medley work:
2x230/1ea x 75
2x270/1ea x 125
2x270/1ea x 145
Log was clean once and press twice, CDB was C&P once with each arm.
Santa's Sleigh Deadlift Simulator
6x200
6x290
6x380
6x470
4x560 - Add Metal Jack DL suit
3x650 - Very easy, but left strap wasn't wrapped up well/tight enough and I could feel it was gonna drop if I did another rep so I stopped.
7x650 - I had all kinds of issues on this set, including the same strap issue from the previous set (which I fixed) and then falling on my ass on the weights when I went to continue the set, but overall this was a solid set to end on.
Duck Walk
50' x 135
50' x 225
50' x 315
Stone Shouldering
4x215
3x1x250
We brought the stones in from the rain about 10 minutes before doing this so they were still pretty wet and slippery. I stuck with singles on the 250 today because I had to dry off after each rep otherwise I just slid all over the stone and it went nowhere.
Despite getting off to a slow and terrible start and then finishing with a pretty light end, today was a good training day and it was a great way to start to Christmas Eve Day, surrounded by similarly like-minded idiots.
