Today I knew I was gonna take a break from log for overhead, and was up in the air between axle or circus DB. I was leaning toward axle, but when I went to bring it out of the Unit, I realized it was in my garage, so the decision was made for me. I haven't touched a circus DB in a while and it definitely showed in my lack of technique. After that I continued my current trend of alternating between farmer's and yoke each week with farmer's since it was up in the rotation. Finished up with more squat work in my metal jack suit at Mike's garage on his monolift, the Orange Crusher. I kept the squats lighter today to try and work on both my technique as well as adding a few more reps instead of all singles. Also I have never tried to squat after doing events before, which was noticeably harder being already fatigued and somewhat dehydrated. I tried to follow the advice of my teammate, Shane Church, on the squats today. I think I did a little better, but still lots of room for improvement for sure.
Circus DB C&P
complex x 75
5ea x 105
3ea x 135
2x2ea x 155 - All sets were right arm first and were easy, but my technique was a wee bit rusty as the DB slipped off my shoulder during my first set and I actually slingshotted myself forward over the CDB while lowering the first rep of my second set.
Farmer's Walk (turn @ 50')
100' x 110
100' x 160
100' x 220
100' x 270 - All my turns were really solid and smooth until the last run, which was complete and total garbage. At least I didn't drop it.
Squat
5x135
3x225
1x315 - Added metal jack briefs
1x405 - Added P2 power belt
2x500 - Added metal jack suit and elitefts super heavy wrist wraps
3x500
Most of my squats felt better than last time, with it being easier to get down and getting down lower, but I still feel like I'm fighting with the gear and I still need to keep my upper body more upright. Ryan buried 455 in just a belt his first time squatting in a monolift, which was probably the best thing I saw today. Aside from helping us squat, Mike and Eric were doing sets of 20 with a million pounds on the reverse hyper and some heavy suitcase deads from the floor to top it all off.
