I had the flu this past week. I didn't train. My strength is down. I'm not panicking about it. That's what you can get to after you've been training long enough! You need to actually look at your training objectively, or as close to it as possible, because your ego will kill you.
Believe me, it sucks dick coming back and feeling weak as hell, but it is just about building momentum and making more productive training sessions, than unproductive ones. I, and everyone I know, will always struggle with this but it's just something we have to come to, or you'll be ever-frustrated with your training.
No days off is a cool hashtag, and it might make your friends think you're just a tad cooler, but the importance of rest and recovery is something that every elite lifter needs to realize one day. The top level athletes in every sport prioritize rest. They train HARD but they recover harder. Whether that means taking an extra day between sessions, setting an alarm to GO TO BED, eating an extra meal, or chugging an additional 1/4 gallon of water a day. Hydration, nutrition, sleep, and active rest are just as, if not more important than your training "program".
I will simply adjust, and focus on the positives of now having some healthy, fun, and heavy sessions in my sights in the future!
