Well, I never thought I would be excited to turn 55 but hey, check this out.

Did you know at 55 years old you can get a senior's discount?

Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall Pharma Plus, Imperial Buffett,  The Best Western and so much more.

Freedom 55 they say. Senior’s discount they say. 55 Is the new 35 they say. They also say women over 55 are more liking to face unique health issues such as Heart disease, osteoporosis, breast cancer and diabetes. Oh goodie for me, lots to look forward to and lots more reasons to take better care of myself. 55 can be whatever I want it to be, the choice is mine.

Age doesn’t matter to me, getting older just means getting wiser. I get to learn more, have more life experiences, more opportunities in life and many more memories.

My greatest joy in life at 55 is being a Grandmother. I thought my heart was full being a Mother but being a Grandmother is different. To watch your children have children and see all the positive values you instilled in your kids be passed onto your Grandkids is an amazing feeling. Watching my grandbabies grow keeps me young and vibrant and fills my heart with so much love. It takes me back to my younger days, reliving all the precious moments I had with my kids; first teeth, first steps, first words, first birthday, bath time and the list goes on.

Overcoming adversity has been one of my strengths. Life brings us all setbacks. Injuries come in all shapes, sizes and forms. They come from stepping off the curb, walking, falling, sports, illnesses and the list goes on. I have had my share of injuries in my life. I have exceeded the Dr.’s expectations in all instances and have overcome even the worst of surgeries. From back, to shoulder to knee surgeries, I have prevailed.

So 55 years young to me is progress. Looking back I cannot change anything, all I can do is look forward and see what my future holds and make the best of it. I can tell you I will live to be a “Great Grandma”, wow what a goal that will be!
