While searching through some old video files today, I came across my very first contest back in 2001. I remember that the Winter before I had gotten up to a planned 300+ lbs, topping it off at 306 lbs and being so far out of shape I could barely move. The next day I began "Strongman Training". Mostly just moving stuff that looked cool and a lot of moving just around the house. I never sat still long enough to actually relax and quickly dropped from 306 to 265 and felt amazing. And small. So a few months of "training" for this show without implements and I showed up, took last on pretty much every event, and went home excited! Incline Log Press: I think I did a max of 365 and the next guy took 370 and made it Car Deadlift Hold: no idea but it was exciting Crucifix Hold: no idea but it was and still is a bad event for me Farmers Carry and Sled Drag: 220 farmers, heavy sled, probably took last but think maybe I didn't on this one Atlas Stones: loaded the 300 lb stone my first time touching stones. Took last :) Finished Last.
