Many years ago I was playing an arcade game in a bar. The game was "Defenders" (Pac Man was popular...but I DEFENDED) Being frustrated by unforeseen foe, I was quickly done away with and because that untimely end of my game I struck the glass surface of the game. Although not too hard, I suppose it was hard enough to shatter the glass. The raucous crowd went DEAD SILENT. I could feel everyone's burning eyes in my back as I held pressure against a stitch needing laceration. I looked up at the score board and uttered these, what have become profound words...If you want to drink beer, you go to a bar. If you want to look at girls, go to a beach. If you want to play games, go to a bowling ally. Never mix! The music was cued up again, the crowd reengaged and I was on my way to get eight stitches in my forearm. A number of events have unfolded recently that has led me to an updated version of that wisdom from long ago. Players, should play. Managers, should manage. and Coaches should coach. Never mix! Bike Commute: 20 minutes after a sleepless night Prowler: 8x100 yards Concept II Rowing Ergometer: 5 minute Steady State 10x15 seconds hard w/ 45 second recovery stroke Inverted Versi Climber: 10x20 steps on each foot hanging onto the backside of the climber Bike Commute: 20 minutes
