If you haven't deduced by now that my groups and I are into a serious "Prowler" block. Three times per week slowly building up.

I have another group of athletes that are readying themselves for the upcoming Hockey Season as well as Football. I have these people do the same distances with a little seasoning. I want them to ACCELERATE the weighted sleds between three steps and six steps depending on the day's objectives.

So here I am at zero dark dark with my own son pushing the Prowler like a bobsled at the Olympics. He would dig his six steps, I'd dig mine. We continued this for about 4 lengths, when "BAM"!!! My left gastroc seizes up. Mind you, I was thinking about this before we got started. Today would be a horrible day to pop a calf muscle was the thought I had upon awakening.

Call it a premonition. I was properly hydrated and rested. I even warmed up with a 30 minute AirDyne bike ride prior to the Prowler, but strain the dang thing I did anyway. (I think I need to stop wearing my St. Lucia shirt. I always get a ding when I wear this shirt and I thought about THAT this morning when I dressed)

The thing is, I'm not willing to give up on the objective. I was hammering these sprints like I was trying to make myself ready for the upcoming hockey season. Doh! I'm not!!! I'm also not 25 years old, or 14 like my son. (although I might be mentally)

Regardless, if I didn't do this, there would be no cool story that I get to write about now.

Lastly, it hurts, yes! But I know that I'm still alive with the pain I am receiving, AND...I love the smell of analgesic balm and the claustrophobic feeling of a 70% tight Voodoo band.

Today's training:
