Recently I hit 100 lbs of weight loss. However, that was never the end game for me. It was just a cool milestone. Actually, I have never really been sure where this journey was/is taking me. It just kind of keeps evolving. The one thing I do know is that I need a goal to strive for. Getting in better condition is not easy. Truthfully, I'd much rather eat whatever I want whenever I want. I miss McDonald's and Ring Dings (that was my pre and post workout nutrition on the way up to superheavyweight). You see, food has always been important to me and I don't ever imagine that changing. Without a goal, I feel I'd struggle staying less fat. I'm also not a big fan of the status quo. So just staying where I am holds no appeal to me. I have been trying to decide whether I want to get bigger or leaner. They both have their pluses. Bigger, seriously, do I have to explain it? Bigger is always better. The really cool thing is that bigger requires more calories. I have spent the last seven years more or less in a calorie deficit. The idea of being above maintenance calories for a good period of time is very tempting. The other side of the coin is to get leaner, or at the very least, less fat. I clearly don't think I'm particularly lean by any stretch. Anyway, how lean is lean enough for me? I don't know. What I do know is that I don't feel like I got there. That last sentence really answered my own question. I think I'll be chasing this OBLF thing a little deeper down the rabbit hole. I'm figuring a good way to do this might be to aim to get down to 210. From there I could cut and hit a meet at 198 just for an experience. That would be my sixth weight class. This seems like a good challenge and it gives me a goal with purpose. Plus, never having competed at 198, whatever I hit would guarantee a personal record. I like it. So after lifting at the NOV Meet next weekend with Wendler and Rhodes, it will be back on the wagon. Hopefully I won't screw myself up too much before then. I'm holing steady around 230. However, I know we're meeting up with Dave Tate for lunch. I don't think the weekend holds much grilled chicken breast and veggies for me. Maybe we'll go out for diet pizza.
