Here’s a flattering pic of Jovan “Yohan” Montalvo, Jeff Sanchez, Buddy Tolley, and Eddie Lohmeyer at the RPS Central Florida Showdown last weekend. A few of the Orlando Barbell Team competed this past weekend at the RPS Central Florida Showdown at CTX. Here’s how they did: Congratulations to Orlando Barbell’s Jovan “Yohan” Montalvo for not only having a great day but for breaking an RPS world record in the squat in the single ply division! Equipped lifting is still alive! Here’s an edited version of what he had to say about his day: "I set a new RPS WORLD RECORD in the single ply 148lb division with a 480lb squat, I benched an OK 275lbs and deadlifted 402lbs. Major thanks to @jfsanch427 for working his ass off while handling me and the Orlando Barbell team. @thamandashoww for filming all our lifts, @buddyyybruhhhand @burleyboy_d for helping me with my warm ups and getting gear on, and most importantly my coach Brian Schwab @obbkingpin_elitefts for helping me during the bench and for his excellent programming/Ebook (the M2 method) which I followed in preparation for this meet. I couldn't have done ANY of this without ALL of them. It's been great being a part of the @orlandobarbell powerlifting team for the past 6 years."

We can’t claim Seth Albersworth since he is a multi-gym member at Perfect Storm Hardcore Training Gym in Daytona, here at OBB, and at CTX but he had a great day as well. Congratulations to Seth Albersworth on his return to the platform and a huge 2000 lb total after a 2 year hiatus due to an injury. Returning to the platform after an injury requires a great deal of mental fortitude, to achieve a big PR requires even more. We could all learn from Seth’s journey. Here’s what Seth had to say about his day: “I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again- Getting hurt was one of the best things to ever happen to me, because it forced me to get better. • I’m proud of myself for getting back on the platform. I’m proud of myself for my first 2000lb raw total. I’m proud of myself for doing it with clean lifts. I also recognize that there is still a long way to go. • I’m thankful to still have the opportunity to do this, I’m thankful for having access to such amazing places to train, and I’m thankful to be a part of a crew where there are four people who total more than me. I love powerlifting.”
