I invest a lot of time with new people. Although I do put them through a bunch of hazing and charge them extra in the beginning because of the amount of time I need to put in with them, once they have qualified to make the team I encourage them to pitch in coaching with the things THEY have learned. I've even backed away when a team member has another cornered and explaining the nuances of the things the newcomer has done correctly or what they have failed to execute. To me, this is a win-win. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt when I hear not necessarily my words, but close to what I say, coming from a senior member, then I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the senior member has "got it" and is teaching "it" to the newer person. I now have multiple "coaches" looking to help improve the overall performance of the group. I also make clear that when a person is teaching, all the others stay in support roles. You know..." too many cooks"??? It's a fine line, but worth the trip.
