Last weekend was a long one. My daughter had a double header Saturday (which I've been helping coach this year) so that was 5 hours in the sun. Sunday, we ran around like crazy visiting our good friends Mike and Gina at their grand re-opening of High Performance Fitness, then more end of the year softball festivities. Monday rolled around and I was pooped. I didn't want to get up (which is pretty rare) and I felt like I could keep sleeping. *Shrug it off as the Monday woes, right?* After a couple morning clients, I strapped on my chucks and hit the iron... because, well, that's what we do. About half way into my squats, I looked over and Officer Bobby and he caught me yawning. "Now you know how I feel every day!" he said. "Man, I don't know.... I literally feel like I could fall asleep right now." I managed to get through my workout of squats and goodmornings. The second I finished, I kicked off my Chucks, put my feet up on my desk and fell asleep for 20 minutes. "Dang, that workout wiped me out," I thought. No worries, nothing a nap can't fix. A couple hours later, I found myself fading again. Kids were busy doing their thing. I looked at Anto and said, "I need to lay down again." I slept for an hour and still felt completely drained. About an hour and a half later, I crashed for another 20 minutes. At this point, I knew something was up. I was getting the chills on and off (on a 85* day) and my ribs were hurting every time I took a deep breath. I made it (barely) through my evening clients, napped again at 8:00 at night while Anto put the kids to sleep. I finally passed out for good at 9:30. Morning comes and my ribs/breathing are still killing me. An urgent care visit and x-ray ruled out pneumonia, but the diagnosis came back as pleurisy. Z-pack prescribed. My energy was coming back by the end of Tuesday. Friday my breathing was feeling almost normal. Needless to say I didn't train the whole week. Except Saturday morning, when I couldn't resist a little arm day with Christian. I don't get "sick" often so this caught me by surprise. Thankfully my stellar immune system kicked it pretty quickly.
