Last Sunday was a max effort deadlift day, and after a couple of months of adding grip work to my routine, I was looking forward to seeing if I could hold onto some damn weight. Also would be nice if my back held out as well.

The exercise was a mat deadlift with the weights on 2 inch mats. I pulled sumo in my suit, so I would e able to handle something close to my meet max and really test the grip out.

Worked up to 640, which I know was a pr, and the heaviest weight I've held onto in a long time. Big day!

I know that's still not a great pull, but it was progress, and I was stoked about it. I did feel as though more weight would have caused me to drop, But since I was losing my grip with 625 not too long ago, this was still optimistic.

I was really shot after this, and my back was really sore (It would be for most of the week) but I still wasn't having the sharp pain I did when I was hurt.

Did some high rep back extensions and ab work and called it a day!
