A weakness on my pulls has been my lockout, I have lost the ability to grind at lockout. I start to shake and I dip a little. Either its a technique problem, or its because I am finally hitting weights on deads that I have never hit before and I am not strong enough for the higher weights I can get to lockout now. I was watching the Brian Shaw series of videos on Mark Bell's Youtube and he talks about how he preps for the Hummer Tire deadlift. Because the bar is so long and bows much the weight actually comes on in stages, gradually adding more and more as he gets to the top, sort of how bands or chains do. He uses monster mini bands to recreate this feeling. The monster minis gradually get harder as where a regular band gets real heavy real quick, its not a gradual increase. I wanted to try this because I have the problem of finishing the lift, having the ability to grind the finish. I wanted to gradually make the weight heavier while still using a lot of bar weight. The orange elitefts pro band worked perfectly for this purpose. I am five weeks out from my competition, I think I will continue to train like this until the meet.
