Well this was an anticlimactic day

The Morning

I was woke up by my alarm. Looking back that should have been a big warning sign for me. On meet days I am usually a ball of energy and up way before my alarm goes off. I was feeling off right away. My stomach was going all crazy and I was pretty much like Jack O'Rourke on game day. Which is not a good thing.

The Meet

I stopped for my traditional McDonald's breakfast on our way. Even that wasn't cool. I couldn't finish the entire meal! Man there was a lot of warning signs of what was to come.

I was in the 5th flight, so I knew I had some time to set up and get to know the lay of the land. Anyone that has competed with knows that I like to be super early and have all my shit laid out so I know where everything this is.

As the first few flights warmed up and I started to get closer to my time to warm up. My stomach started doing back flips. Not nerves either. This was a different feeling. I loaded up on Imodium thinking that was the issue. It was not.

Warm ups started and I wasn't feeling to bad. It was fucking chaos in the warm up room with about 7000 (maybe that is a slight exaggeration) back there and it seemed like every lifter had 9 people standing around them just in case.

My jumps went something like Bar x 5 265 x 5 with briefs 445 x 2 with briefs 535 x 1 with suit 740 x 1 with wraps. This is when I started to feel sick

My suit was pretty baggy on me. Even baggier than my usual bagginess. I didn't get all the way back up to my training weight and could't fill the suit.

I opened at 850 lbs. The back stage was packed again because everyone needed to bring 5 people backstage for some reason.

Shannon wrapped the shit out of my knees and I was ready to go! Or so I thought.

I stood up with the weight and instantly thought that it was mis-loaded by 400 lbs.

I started my decent and it felt like the weight got heavier and heavier. Shannon called me up and I threw up in my mouth a little and got absolutely stapled with it.

No big deal. It happens....... but not with 850 lbs. Fuck.

I started to panic right away. Blamed my briefs. So I changed them. Ya. it wasn't my briefs.

Rolled the same weight for my second attempt. Another great knee wrap from Shannon. I stood up. Threw up again and began to fall backwards. Yelled for them to take it and told Shannon I was done. I had nothing. Little did I know, that was the best I was going to feel for 2 weeks.

Part 3 will cover the after portion of the program!
