Are you providing an internship program on a whim? STOP!

The Master's Thesis, "STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING INTERN DEVELOPMENT: PERIODIZING THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF NEW COACHES IN THE FIELD" by Gabriel Inman, focuses on the professional development of new strength and conditioning coaches. It identifies the need for structured internships to improve the quality of coaching in the field, which is relatively young compared to other sports professions.

The paper outlines the importance of creating a clear, engaging, and educational internship plan that includes practical experience and mentorship. It suggests a phased approach to intern development, beginning with foundational knowledge and progressing to complex programming and coaching skills.

The goal? Create competent, skilled coaches through a structured, periodized internship program that balances education with practical application.
