While there I saw judge Wayne Pullum who is making efforts to bring back the WPO. I haven’t competed multi-ply in years, am older, and have been dealing with two friggin autoimmune diseases that have been tearing me down for the last few years, but when I heard Wayne talking about the WPO something snapped in my head. I was one of the first WPO lifters when it started in Daytona in 2000 and am one of the last lifters still competing (although I haven’t competed in years like I said). Some of the most memorable days of my life were competing onstage at the WPO Finals at the Arnold. I’ll be damned if the WPO resurfaces here in Orlando and I don’t at least try to be a part of it. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I have to at least try. I contacted some of my old training partners; April and Stephen Harper, Jeff Sevor, and Neal Cotton and they (along with Isaac Sullender who’s been training with me) were all willing to get back at it to take on the challenge with me. Thank you my friends and thank you Wayne for the opportunity. Shit just got real. Follow me on my uncertain journey. Raw Deadlifts off 3” Blocks- 135x5 225x3 315x2 405x1 495x1 565x1
Although April has been training primarily for Olympic lifting in her garage, Stephen hasn’t been training much at all and neither one of them seem to have missed a beat. It’s impressive. Here’s April pulling 405 for a double off the blocks:
