I apologize for being so behind on my coaching log. To be honest, with the restrictions from this whole pandemic thing I haven’t had much to post about. I hope to be posting more now that everything seems to gradually be returning to normal. My Special Olympic athlete, CJ Piantieri, suffered a stress fracture below his left knee from a misstep off of a curb back in April. He had to take a few weeks off of lower body, but is quickly regaining his strength in preparation for his next meet, which will hopefully be in November. Here’s one of his recent deadlift workouts where he pulled 245x5.
The issues that Covid has caused are difficult for all of us, but are particularly stressful for the intellectually disabled. They often have less access to adequate healthcare and could potentially have underlying health issues which make them more likely to contract the disease, but they are also suffering due to the lack of interaction and routine as well as the isolation. I often wonder which is causing more damage. I can’t help but think it’s the latter. I hope you’re all doing well, are staying safe, and are able to maintain your routines enough to keep your sanity.
