We are in our heaviest week of winter training. We'll do rep max "testing" this week. They'll be using 85% of their 1RM for reps on Bench (Monday) and Squat (Friday). I give them some leeway in choosing reps on this stuff. Simply speaking, I'll ask them how many reps they want to get (they should have a good idea because we did a RM with 80% a few weeks ago. I'm hoping these guys get the same number of reps that they got a few weeks ago. If not, no big deal. they will have a few RM numbers that they can use to see they're progress. In 2 weeks we'll do our 1RM testing before spring break. I'm already preparing for summer training. Taking a look at what has worked well/poorly and making the changes. I'm pretty happy with the progression we came up with. I think I'll start tracking more lifts. I keep it very simple, but I think I want to add a few more to the list. In my position (the only full time coach on staff) I have to do things that I can do even when my assistants change. Right now, my guys are very good and I'm doing absolutely no number tracking. They're doing it all. I have to get back to doing it because it's inevitable that I'll lose at least one at the end of this semester. Anyway, those are some thoughts on what's going on.
