I’m kinda lacking for inspiration at the moment, but hey – what better way to get amped up than music? In all seriousness, research does support the use of music for physiological arousal: in other words, cranking up Metallica can help you smash some big PRs. It’s certainly not necessary, and if you prefer to listen in silence – because it’s easier to focus, because you don’t like wearing headphones, or for any other reason – I’m not suggesting you try to change your routine. But if you are a metalhead, you might enjoy these songs. Freedom Call, “Rock the Nation” I dunno, there’s just something about a bunch of German guys screaming at me to go have fun and stop worrying that gets me psyched to SFW. Five Finger Death Punch, “You [Remix]” “Stand the fuck up” = guaranteed squat PR. Atreyu, “The Crimson” The lyrics on this one are actually pretty bizarre, but it was the song playing when I first squatted 700+ at 181, so it’s stuck with me. In the comments: what are your favorite psych up songs?
