There is nothing like brand new people that have no idea about weight room etiquette or vocabulary that we that LIVE in the gym take for granted. I find it quite refreshing to hear people try to explain their needs using the terms that fit their need and it can easily replace what we call objects or movements. Today when I had my two new(er) gals set up in one of the racks and they asked me, "what pole do you want us to use?" I stopped! No, I was STAPLED!!! My normal off the curb and into the gutter response is still too early for these young ladies to get hammered with, so I minded my manners and told them to get out the Texas Squat Pole one. The bigger 45 lbs pole. The one that was thicker than the skinny pole that was in the rack. Meanwhile, while they were blushing, I kept a perfectly straight face and turned to one of my more experienced lifters, winked and told them how I am STILL a very good "silver tongue bastard".
