Some notes: This is a clip from one of the original WSBB training videos (they have been reproduced twice since this) that I used to use in my seminars. This is a good morning where you push your ass back to work the hamstrings while trying to get the bar right over the toes. These are best done for 3-5 reps for strength work. We tried singles for years and it just created more issues than strength. #elitefts #westsidebarbell #hairdays #powerlifting #strengthtraining #davetate After years of trying singles with not much carryover, I found 3-5 reps worked best for me and never went over 455. If it felt good, I would do a couple sets of 5. If it felt like shit, 1 set of 3. This weight was 455 - 50% of my CM (competitive max) squat at the time. This was 20 years + ago when there were no raw divisions. I could have used more but found the carryover stopped at 455, so I kept it there. If my strength dropped under 455x3, I knew my squat and dead were fucked and I had to get back to baseline. This was an important movement for me. This doesn't mean it would be the same for others.
