We've been running a

survey on Women's Powerlifting and the results and feedback have been amazing. This

survey is still active so if you are a competitive or recreational female powerlifter please take 5 minutes of your time to fill this out. At the end of the

survey you will find a link to a free elitefts Deadlift Manual. The results have always changed our content and media strategy as we were slightly off what you all are looking for. While I do not want to share all the survey results I will share the Top Three Reasons Women got into Powerlifting Training. What is even more interesting is "why" but I will save that for another time.   Meana Bench 2

Reason #1 : They Love Lifting

They love the way the barbell feels in their hands and on their back just as much or more than most men. The love the strain, challenge, and adversity that comes with lifting maximal weights.   yessicaM Photo courtesy of Luke Tevebaugh at LTevebaugh-Photographer

Reason #2: To Get Stronger

This was a very close 2nd and when adding the words; strength, strong, stronger would have put it first. Once again this falls back onto the challenge and strain of training to become better - stronger.   molly edwards

Reason #3: To Compete

They want to see how they rank against others and they want to compete against them. In follow up interviews we have found they are very interested and want to know where the best will be competing because that's where they want to compete. They would rather travel 1000 miles to lift against the best then lift in a local meet against only a few.   I wanted to keep this list very simple and to the point. I am sure I could add several paragraphs of filler to explain in greater detail why these are the top three but do you really care?
