In part 2 of this interview we talked about a coach’s mindset. It became very clear that Martin and I shared the same views on why some coaches excel and others don’t. It isn't about “their system” it's about keeping that “beginner’s mind.” You have to keep learning everyday or you’ll fall to the wayside. Never think you have the perfect system or you can’t learn from others. Coaching is an art form and very dynamic. "The more I learn, the more I realize what I don't know"

The image above shows Martin killing a new push-up variation he learned in his travels. He did it very explosively and without any extra movement. We worked alongside him and he kept coaching form and full range of motion. These very basic, yet complex movements didn’t require any special tools. That was the key. In his travels, the common denominator between all of these different athletes was their mastery of these movements, void of any cool new pieces of equipment.
