I'm currently training for the 2019 USPA Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. After dropping a couple weight classes, this meet will be second showing at 198 and real return to raw powerlifting after a couple years wearing gear.

Day 1

I moved my week around. We didn't get home from the airport until about an hour after I was supposed to start training. After sitting on an airplane for a few hours, it made the most sense to me to do the easiest session of the week and get it out of the way.

Bench - 225 + mini band x 5 x 3. Focused on speed, especially on the eccentric. I have gotten slow. Trying to resolve this even just a tiny bit before the meet.

Push ups BW x 5 x 20

Bird Dog Rows - 50 x 3 x 8

Wall walks - Mini band for 3 sets

PVC Bench - 30 per side, 2 x 30

This was the bigger session that I needed to move. Wouldn't have gone well after a day traveling.

Squat - 625 x 1 and 665 x 1. Even better than last week. I moved my stance in on the unrack which seems to have helped get my feet right after the walk out. Felt a lot stronger here.

Speed Squat - SSB, 325 + green band x 4 x 2

Close Stance Hatfield Squat - 235 x 2 x 15

Step Ups - Low box, 50 x 3 x 10

Leg Extension - 3 x 15

Side Planks - BW x 3 x 20 seconds

Some good news - A lot of work stress just got relieved yesterday. I got some good news on something I was working on and was able to get some last minute travel locked in. Scheduled in a way that doesn't impact the meet thankfully. I was worried that I was going to have to try and travel the week of the meet. Not good.

Some maybe bad news - My bodyweight is UP after a weekend of Cajun food. It's already fallen back down a couple pounds but the scale was scary the other morning. It will be very important to eat well for the next couple weeks.
