This deadlift cycle is very different for me. I've been rotating pulling against bands with block pulls, and every month using a smaller block and heavier bands. I'm using a stiff eleiko powerlifting bar and no straps which is proving to be humbling, but forcing me to leave a little in the tank, a smart move for how far out I am. Today I used a lower block, and while my first two warm up sets felt a little out of the groove, I was able to correct my positioning, and focus on wedging into the bar harder. I noticed I needed to be patient off the blocks, but once the bar broke off the blocks it was butter. I was really pleased with how I felt today energy and strength wise. I'm already at my goal training weight, and really feel stronger at a few lbs lighter. It'll be nice to keep my calories higher leading into my next meet. Overall, today was a really fun day. Seth's old training partner, Ryan has been coming out on Saturdays for the last few weeks and he's a good guy to have around to help coach.
