Did anyone hear a loud thump yesterday? That was me falling off the wagon. For whatever reason my appetite was voracious during the day. I am usually fine during the day. I have a couple of protein coffees and a handful of peanuts and that suits me fine. Something just let loose.

I ate whatever was handy at work. A scoop of peanut butter here, a handful of ritz crackers, some graham crackers, a little bit of popcorn, a breakfast bar, and a couple of donuts. Little by little I had eaten a lot of extra calories. Yep, it happens that fast and yes, the calories add up quickly.

I finally put a stop to it and tabulated my damage. It was 1,000 extra calories. For a brief moment I thought, screw it. Just give yourself the day. However, I quickly realized what kind of damage I could do with that type of a binge day.

So when I got home I threw on the weight vest and went on a 30 minute walk in the 85 degree heat. Needless to say I got a good sweat going. This was out of the ordinary because it was a squat day. I don't usually condition before training, let alone go on a weight vest walk before squatting. Luckily I am as weak as a little girl (which is an insult to little girls, more than me) and am not back to squatting much yet.

The other thing I did, was cut calories for the rest of the day. As it was a training day, I did not want to cut the full 1k, so I split it at 500. I could subtract a little more tomorrow and the day after to make up the difference.

So I didn't let the day go, or the week go. That would just be an excuse to eat. This process is not easy. I'm making tiny incremental steps forward each week. I cannot afford to take two steps back.

My advice to those of you trying to be less fat, when you fall off the wagon, get the "f" back on in a hurry. Nobody but you cares that you want to lose weight. Actually, it's my experience most people want you to fail. It makes them feel better about themselves.
