After getting to know my Metal Canvas on Sunday, It was time to get back in my prototype Metal King for some shirt work on Monday.

I tried this shirt a while back, even going as far as competing in it (posting a 625 bench at 220), but felt it was always a little too big. After putting on a little more upper body size, I decided to give it another go. Here's how it went:

Warmed up raw to 315, then put the shirt on for 405

405 - 3 board

495 - 2 board

585 - 1 board

625 - touch - missed it right at the top

625 - touch - missed in the same spot.

Although the shirt does feel tighter, I don't like the groove. It seems to make me dump a little too low, then toss it towards the uprights. For a comparison, I put on my stock Ace for 600, and made it relatively easily.

So I guess the prototype just isn't for me. On the brighter side, The Ace felt great, even after the two misses. Guess I found my shirt.

I was pretty beat up after basically working up twice, so I did 10 sets of 10 on the hammer strength low row with a couple of plates and called it a day.
